MESOTHERAPY
BU Wellness Mesotherapy

Mesotherapy is a minimally invasive procedure in which multiple tiny injections of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, natural extracts, etc, are delivered into the mesodermal layer of tissue, the layer of fat and connective tissue under the skin, to promote the loss of fat or cellulite and to nourish and promote skin rejuvenation.  The type of compounds injected into the mesotherm depends upon the disease process that is being treated.

Developed in France by Dr. Michel Pistor in 1952, mesotherapy has been widely used in Europe and elsewhere to treat various aesthetic and medical conditions.  It was introduced to U.S. In late 2004, and each day thousands of doctors worldwide provide mesotherapy to help hundreds of thousands of patients safely.

Mesotherapy treatments are typically given once in every two weeks, but as reduction in fat deposits and cellulite is seen, the treatments may be given less frequently, such as once a month or even once every six weeks.  Most patients notice improvement in only a few sessions, but number of weight loss and body sculpting treatments required varies from person to person.

Mesotherapy to Reduce Localized Fat Deposits

Mesotherapy is used for weight loss and body sculpting to reduce, eliminate and contour specific undesired fat pockets on abdomen, chin and jowl, arms, buffalo hump, love handles, hip and thighs.

Based on individual requirements, injection sites and doses of medication are determined for weight loss and body sculpting.  Once injected into the skin, the medication slowly diffuses into the fat, and emulsify and destroy fat cells by destroying the fat cell membrane.  Once the mechanism of action occurs, the fat is absorbed back into the body.  Multiple treatments are required and may not work effectively on older patients, lax skin, and for patients looking for instant gratification.  This is one of the most effective treatments for localized fat and results are dependent upon compliance of following through the series of injections.

Mesotherapy to Reduce Cellulite

Cellulite is a condition involving the vascular circulation as well as the lymph flow of the adipose tissue.

It creates dimpling and abnormal nodules of fat in thighs, more commonly in women than men.

Contrary to belief, cellulite is not caused by or is more prevalent in obese or overweight individuals.

Hormonal imbalances are the main cause for cellulitic changes in the subcutaneous fat, and other contributing factors include vascular perfusion changes, impaired venous and lymphatic drainage, smoking, poor diet and genetic disposition.

Mesotherapy is effective to improve vascular and lymphatic flow and help break down the fat nodules resulting in cellulite reduction.

Mesotherapy to Promote Skin Rejuvenation

Mesotherapy is also a safe and natural  alternatives to invasive cosmetic procedures.  The injected solutions, mainly vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and amino acids, directly into the skin to stimulate the fibroblast in the connective tissue of the skin, which in turn plays an important role in the production of the collagen and elastin.

As your skin ages, circulation decreases, and the resulting reduction of oxygen and nutrients hinders your body’s ability to flush out toxins.  This is what drives premature aging and causes the skin developwrinkes. Mesotherapy can be used as a supplement, or an alternative, to many anti-aging regimens, including Botox/Dysport, laser resurfacing, peels, antioxidants, topical creams and facelifts.

Mesotherapy is a highly effective rejuvenating treatment to tone and tighten sagging skin on the neck, legs, abdomen, arms and hands.
